Hello everyone! My name is Evi and I come from Greece. I’m 20 years old and I’m a student. I decided to come to Palermo and to participate in this project in order to live my first experience in volunteering, meet new people, create memories and learn more about offering help, opportunities and chances to people from disadvantage backgrounds. Also, I found it a chance to get to know more about myself, learn things about different cultures and see how life can be in other countries.
The idea of living in Palermo for a long period of time seemed interesting and the more I got to meet the city, the people and the culture of Sicily, the more I liked it. The city is full of life, there are so many things to do and try and having the chance to do it with so amazing people makes it more exciting.
People here are simple, fun and kind. The gastronomy in Sicily is amazing and there are so many dishes to try, that everyone would love. This city felt immediately like home, because of the warmth of the people and the friendly environment.
I felt welcomed since the beginning. Meeting young people ready to be creative and help others, with the wish to make the world a better place, was life changing and inspiring. I learn something new every day I get to spend time with them and I’m grateful I had the chance to meet them.
I consider myself lucky to be surrounded by so friendly and inspiring people from different countries and share that experience. Sharing those moments is what makes this situation awesome. You can learn, grow and figure out your interests, while experimenting with different kinds of activities.
