Before I started writing this article, I tried to think about what it would be worth highlighting from the period I spent in Palermo.
I remember once talking to one of my flatmates who said: “Forget everything you plan to do after ESC, because this experience will change everything”. And he was right! Unfortunately, I didn’t spend a long time there, but it was an unforgettable experience. I learned a lot of new things about Sicily, the local people and made friends.
While I was in Palermo, I made volunteering at CESIE and at some local centers, and I also attended various trainings that helped my work.
I think everyone who has the opportunity should try this mobility program at least once, because it helps a lot in language learning and it’s an excellent work experience.
So my advice to those who are thinking about volunteering is: do it!
