Hi 🙂 My name is Camille and I come from France. I participated in a short term ESC project in Palermo (Sicily) at CESIE. I came here with the desire for adventure and experiences and I can happily say that it has been achieved.

In just two months, I learned so much about me and the people I worked with. I was able to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures. That allowed me to be more open-minded, patient and aware of some difficult situations that people can have.

I spent my two-months project doing many activities with Cesie and with the centers it supports in the local area, I was able to play and learn a lot with the migrant children, I learned communication during some activities in the charity center for people in need (even if they don’t speak a word of English) That allowed me to discover a new language. And I was also able to teach French in an after-school center for children of the neighborhood. With all these activities I learned a lot about myself and gained in maturity and communication.

Moreover, living together in an appartement with 7 volunteers was a big experience (I loved it by the way). With the issues of living together and with our different ways of living due to our different countries of origin, it wasn’t always easy but I never complained!

Palermo is a beautiful city with so much to see and learn. Thanks to our mentor Giulia for making us discover this city.

Volunteering introduces you to new people, cultures and new skills. I will never ever regret the things that I have done in my life, so If you think about doing this type of project, just do it!
