My name is Abdul from Ghana living here in Palermo. When I first came here I was confused about the city but later I found out that it is an open city with different cultures.
The people here live together and work as a community. I’m a volunteer at a centre in Palermo that provides different services for migrants and refugees. The Center offers breakfast, showers, distribution of clothes, Italian school (with three levels of teaching), after-school, legal advice, medical clinic and work desk for the needy.
I chose to be a volunteer because I wanted to dedicate my time for something good. It was a nice experience. I worked and participate in some creative workshops together with some other volunteers from different countries that was organised by CESIE. We worked together as team and we learnt from each other. This experience has changed my life in a positive way in fact I have grown more than the person I was yesterday. Thank you CESIE for this opportunity.
