Working in contact with nature, acquire skills and knowledge to get familiar with the natural resources of an area and how to use them to promote sustainable rural development.

We are looking for two young people (between 18-30 years old) willing to have a three weeks volunteering experience in Austria in Baumkirchen – Tirol.

Three weeks volunteering organized by CUBIC – Culture and Education in Context – from the 25th May to 17th June 2017. The activities of the association are multiple, intense and bring people to mingle and work together with the local context.

The project will take place in Baumkirchen, a small village (1250 inhabitants) in the rural area of Tirol, not far from Innsbruck. They will be hosted in the guest house of the Don Bosco Sisters, who runs the kindergarten for the community.

Volunteers activities

The volunteers will work in the following fields:

  • building equipment for a communal children’s playground out of natural resources from the surroundings;
  • clearing and restoring historical footpaths;
  • cultural activities like getting to know Tirolean gastronomy and farming culture, learn Austrian dances;
  • open air activities like biking, hiking, swimming.

During their staying, volunteers will work together with international volunteers from four different countries (Finland, Italy, Portugal and United Kingdom) and will be supported by experts in forest related education and other professionals.

Furthermore, participants will be involved in the community life and have the opportunity to meet youngsters from the local youth clubs.
