The partnership of the project POLYGLOT – Multilingual education in preschool age, is currently involved in a research phase representing the first step towards the implementation of future project activities.
This first phase will lead to the elaboration of two studies: a State of the Art Report about bi- and multilingual education in kindergartens and a State of the art report on web based OER for bilingual education which are suitable to promote bilingual education from pre-school age. The two research reports will also include specific information from each of the 6 project partner countries: Austria, Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Italy.
The first research will provide for general information on measures adopted in each partner country in the field of pre-school education, with a focus on policies aimed at fostering language learning. The second research will focus on identifying a number of Open Educational Resources already available in the different partners’ languages, and will provide for a more detailed overview on web-based resources suitable to be used for language learning.
Within the project POLYGLOT, CESIE will be responsible for the development of an e-course which will guide parents in using Open Educational Resources to ease bilingualism in the home setting. With a view to identify the real needs of the course users, some parents and families with a bilingual background are currently being asked about their expectations on such a course and on the most relevant subjects to be addressed therein.
POLYGLOT – Multilingual education in preschool age is a project co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of school education, aiming to foster language learning from an early age by exploring the potential of Open Educational Resources and the new opportunities offered by media and by the use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
