The School of Policy Studies of the University of Bristol hosted the coordination meeting of the STIR project between 10th and 11th of November 2014. The meeting marked a pivotal moment in the progress of the project, as it focused on the finalization of the app for young people and on the exploitation of the data collected by the partners through 4,500 surveys and 500 interviews with students and young people in the five countries involved in STIR.
Representatives from the University of Bristol (United Kingdom), the University of Central Lancashire – UCLAN (United Kingdom), the Norwegian Centre of Violence and Traumatic Stress (Norway), CESIE – Centro Studi e Iniziative Europeo (Italy) and the Applied Research and Communication Fund (Bulgaria) revised the content of the beta version of the app “STIRitAPP” against the feedback collected from the young people advisory groups in the partner countries.
As the finishing touches for the final version of STIRitAPP come along, the partners started organizing the Launch Conference in London, which is planned to be held on 11th February 2015. Until then, the STIR consortium will also be working on a series of publications that will build on the results of the research carried out during the project lifecycle.
The STIR project has been contributing largely to the research on intimate violence within teenage couples, sometimes filling a real gap in research, as it is the case in Italy and in Bulgaria. The results have informed the development of the app and of the web resource directly targeting young people and hopefully inspiring a reflection on their own relationships.
