The 21st of October 2015 the team of Replace II project met in Brussels for two important events:
In the morning the final meeting was held among partners. It was an important moment to finalize all the project activities and especially to focus on the impact that the project had among all the partner countries.
Moreover, partners had a preview of the two main outputs of the project: the Toolkit and the Community Handbook on “The Replace approach: Supporting communities to end FGM in the EU”, providing a theoretical and practical guide for community members affected by FGM, community leaders and organizations involved in bringing an end to FGM in the EU.
The Toolkit provides in detail theoretical tools for supporting and empowering communities to change their social norms towards the practice. The Community Handbook represents a brief version for a more practical use.
In the afternoon, the Final conference was held at the offices of the European Parliament. It was hosted by Neena Gill, Member of the European Parliament, representing the West Midlands for the Labour Party. She intervened as a keynote speaker with Natalie Kondoulis from the End FGM EU network.
The conference was the occasion to present the Replace approach and methodology of the Behaviour Weel Change and to launch the Toolkit and the Community Handbook to organizations actively involved in tackling the topic of FGM at EU level. Indeed, participants invited to the conference were chosen among the most engaged European organization in fighting FGM in Europe.
The conference represents a milestone in the path towards the end of FGM at EU level, defining new policies and recommendations for future works in this field.
The Replace II project is co-founded by the Daphne III Program from the European Commission.
