Beyond differences: tackling racism and afrophobia in Europe

AFROEQUALITY final conference

Does skin color really make us “different”? And how do racism, hate speech, and violence still affect the lives of people of African descent across Europe today?

For two years, AFROEQUALITY has been fostering the empowerment of African communities in Greece, Italy, and Spain through research and awareness-raising initiatives, aiming to enhance inclusion and civic participation.

Together with experts, project partners, and stakeholders committed to promoting human rights, we will explore these issues by sharing experiences, reflections, and good practices to counter Afrophobia and foster inclusion, civic participation, and a sense of belonging.

We will do this during the conference in Athens:

Friday 15 May, 2026 | 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (GMT+3)

Department of Communication and Media Studies, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens 1, Sofokleous street, Athens, P.C. 11141 (Room 302, Third floor)

and online (Teams)

The event will be held in English, with translation support provided.
