The period of history in which we currently live is marked by several episodes of racism and xenophobia that exclude the human part of that people that escape from their country and they see Europe as the place in which they can start to live again.
In particular, the Journeys project celebrates the talents of refugee artists and delivers powerful strands of artistic activity to widen understanding of refugee experiences. The aim is to facilitate the integration of refugees through the arts and culture.
JOURNEYS is a partnership project led by UK based cultural development agency ArtReach, and is a development from its successful Journeys Festival International project now being delivered in three UK cities.
From 16th to 25th June 2017, 3 important strands of work will be delivered in Palermo by CESIE:
- Look-Up: a high profile outdoor art exhibition in Piazza Verdi presenting refugee women by Luca Delfino;
- A short film by Jean Paul Barreaud and Alessio Algeri;
- 2 Seminars: the first one “Imagining a different reception policy”: the idea is to imagine together new way to interact and the second one “Art and migration: best practices in Italy”: discussion about artistic and cultural path for migrants that able to express themselves.
