How can we guide children towards a more mindful and balanced use of digital technologies?

Smartphones and digital devices are now part of children’s everyday lives, offering new opportunities to communicate, learn and have fun. However, increasingly early access to technology can expose them to risks that affect their emotional wellbeing, social relationships and ability to manage the time they spend online.

In this context, families and educational staff play a vital role in guiding young children towards a healthier and more mindful relationship with digital technology.

It is to address these challenges that FreeMobi was launched, an initiative that combines digital literacy and social-emotional learning (SEL) to strengthen the skills of children, families and educational staff through practical tools, awareness-raising activities and educational programmes.

As part of EU SCHOOL 2026, you’ll be able to discover FreeMobi’s tools and activities at a dedicated information stand, a space where you can explore strategies to prevent and tackle problematic smartphone use and learn how social-emotional learning can be adapted to digital environments.

The event will also provide an opportunity for families, teaching staff, educators and professionals interested in guiding children towards a safer, more balanced and responsible use of technology to come together and exchange ideas.
