Experiential tourism: shaping the future at the second Community Atelier
Our first meeting confirmed a profound truth: the Gulf of Castellammare and the Balestrate region are not merely geographical coordinates, but a living entity of memories, rural architecture and artisanal skills. However, simply being aware of our heritage is no longer enough to stem the tide of depopulation; we need to transform that vision into a concrete model of sustainable development.
Whilst the first Atelier served to highlight the value of our tangible and intangible assets, the second session on 25 March marks a crucial step towards taking action. We are no longer asking ourselves merely ‘why’ we should act, but ‘how’ to do so. Experiential and community-based tourism ceases to be a theoretical concept and becomes the tool through which operators, associations and active citizens can generate new local economies.
The idea is to build an operational network that prioritises authenticity and relationships, transforming our villages not just into places to visit, but into places where people want to stay and invest.

This second meeting will be a forum for listening and discussion, aimed at defining integrated promotional strategies.
