Home / Youth / Rebuilding our society through youth

The COVID19 pandemic has undeniably affected each individual in a specific, challenging manner. What is clear, however, is that young people over the world were inextricably isolated and have lost nearly 2 precious years of their youth.

In order to help them get back on their feet, CESIE has recently started coordinating a new exciting collaboration with 6 other European partners, aimed at fostering youth’s civic engagement and empowering them with tailored training and networking opportunities by launching the project REBUILD – Rebuilding society through youth engagement.

REBUILD kicked off on the 30th June 2021, with the online participation of CESIE together with partners from Martinique, Greece, Spain, Lithuania, Cyprus and Belgium

Over the next two years, REBUILD’s partner organisations will work together to select the best youth-led initiatives in social solidarity and/or promotion of green lifestyles as a response to the COVID19 pandemic. Then, they will train under-represented young people in project design and implementation, promoting the role of Youth Ambassadors among representatives of the identified youth organisations, allowing them to implement their project ideas over 4 months. With a view to foster networking and the exchange of best practices at EU level, REBUILD will then build solid platforms for collaboration among youth across the partner countries, through online thematic mobilities, and an International Youth-net Forum in Palermo. Finally, the project will develop an online campaign with the direct involvement of youth targets to promote the created initiatives.

We are currently in the stage of mapping youth organisations who have carried out initiatives related to social solidarity and green lifestyles during and in the after period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each partner organisation will conduct guided conversations with the identified youth representatives, and create national webzines (i.e. online magazines) collecting in a visually attractive way the information gathered from them with a view to build on their successful stories. The REBUILD webzines will aim to be a dynamic and interactive publication which will combine the mediums of audio, written word and images to create a stimulating visual output. Partner were trained by CESIE, as lead of this activity, during the kick-off meeting and are ready to meet their local youth.

Are you a representative of a youth organisation, or of an informal group of young people, who has developed projects aimed at helping young people recover from the current COVID19 pandemic? Are you a youth stakeholder? Do you like the idea of learning new skills in project design and implementation and meet other young actors from European countries?

If so, you have a role to play! Do not hesitate to get in touch with Eileen Quinn at this address: eileen.quinn@cesie.org.
