The first meeting between the CREATE project and the local community took place in December: artists, representatives of cultural institutions and final beneficiaries of the project participated in the round table organised by CESIE to discuss how culture and creativity contribute to generating a positive social impact in many other areas, as well as ensuring well-being and health, education, inclusion.
How can we guarantee this right to everyone?
These and other several topics were touched during the discussion with the participants in the round table: we started from the analysis of local strategies on culture and social inclusion, the main challenges to be faced at local level and how to support the less well-off classes to allow everyone to participate in the cultural proposals of the city.
The round table was attended by representatives of the Teatro Massimo Foundation, students and two winners of previous editions of the Art and Act contest, an international art contest organized by CESIE.
During the round table with the participants, many ideas and initiatives promoted by the Municipality and the Teatro Massimo Foundation emerged, such as the experience of the opera-truck in the Danisinni district, which literally brought opera to the inhabitants of the neighborhood, involving them in the opera choir and showing them the lesser-known crafts of the theatre, like all the workers and professionals who work on the sets. Another initiative is the Rainbow Choir, formed by boys and girls from Palermo’s immigrant communities, with the intention of continuing their integration process with the territory through music.
Promoting social inclusion through art is our main goal: art knows no boundaries and the beauty of working in this field is that you can really communicate with everyone in the best possible way, through people’s sensitivity. Art reaches everyone.
In the coming months we will dedicate ourselves to the design of training and artistic workshops, which will be carried out with experts in the sector.
