What does \u201cdigital data\u201d mean? What are these numbers telling us?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Digital data introduced a unique transformation in our communication habits. Understanding data and their meaning is fundamental for a responsible, respectful, critical and competent use of digital technologies. The term onlife<\/em>, created by Professor Luciano Floridi, defines the current reality where it is no longer possible to make a clear distinction between the digital and the analogical dimension<\/strong> (Treccani, 2019). Public authorities, civil society, parents, schools have the joint responsibility to make the Internet a safe source of knowledge, communication, skill development and job opportunities, empowering students with the competences needed for learning and actively participating in the digital world, overcoming the risk of a digital gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the need for improving digital data literacy in education, D3 project<\/a><\/strong> partners are now finalising a cutting-edge, open training course for secondary school teachers, in line with the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp 2.1<\/a>), the Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu<\/a>), and the findings and recommendations provided in the Comparative Review on the use of open data in school education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course will offer a series of activities, hints for reflection and open data tools to promote digital data literacy<\/strong> in secondary education and overcome the digital gap<\/strong> still existing in our societies. The contents are structured according to two levels of expertise, Explorer and Expert, in 4 modules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Information & Data Literacy;<\/li>
  2. Digital data (content) creation;<\/li>
  3. Communication & collaboration through open data;<\/li>
  4. Problem solving with open data.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
