The recent pandemic has highlighted how the use of the web and information technology is very important, as it guarantees continuous access to the information for all, allowing people to catch up on current events at school, work and in the society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The use of digital tools and access to the Internet are now considered as \u201crights of the individual\u201d which allow his\/her full development. Citizenship thus takes on new relevance and is transformed into a \u201cdigital citizenship\u201d that allows citizens to become familiar with digital tools and, at the same time, acquire social skills related to the ability to protect against the risks of the web but also to the ability to respect the others, avoiding incorrect behaviours on the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 9th<\/sup>, we celebrate the Safer Internet Day \u201cTogether for a better Internet\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With our projects we want to promote the conscious use of the web and digital civic education, both for young people and for adults, underlining how the web and information technologies can be important in our life, but we must be very careful how use them without incurring in offensive acts and\/or be victims of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are just some of our initiatives related to the issue of web security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IN2STE(A)M \u2013 STE(A)M disciplines and digital citizenship education for primary schools<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When analysing socio-cultural phenomena, students should be able to distinguish between true and false information, in order to avoid fake information and so as to express opinions based on reliable information. STEM digital education should be integrated into citizenship education and school curricula, to prevent young people from falling into the traps of the web, fake news and cyberbullying. School and other educational institutions that promote democratic values \u200b\u200band active citizenship must aim to develop critical thinking among young people, with the support of STEM technologies and digital education. STEM*Lab Scoprire, Trasmettere, Emozionare, Motivare<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The project aims at contrasting the personal, cultural, social and behavioural vulnerabilities of minors (5-14 years old) in the partners\u2019 regions. STEM*Lab will set up 13 STEMLabs in the regions involved, for the teaching of STEM disciplines. One of the activities proposed is a computer literacy laboratory, with the objectives of spreading awareness among students of primary schools on the risks of using web tools and on how to manage their privacy in the Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEGA \u2013 Make Europe Great Again<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, safe surfing on the internet has become increasingly important in our lives. We use the internet to work, to communicate, to have fun but also to inform ourselves: this is why it is essential to know how to distinguish safe sources of information from harmful ones. The MEGA project aims to combat fake news relating to Europe and its institutions, promoting critical thinking among young people and ways to unmask the Europhobic myths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iWell \u2013 Enhancing the Digital and Social Well-being in Schools<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays, promoting a healthy and equilibrated use of digital media inside schools has become crucial. The iWell project aims at enhancing the digital and social well-being in primary schools, by making teachers active health agents and strengthening students\u2019 digital skills. In the context of the project, training materials and a MOOC for teachers, and Health Literacy Mini Games for students will be developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KITE fighters \u2013 <\/strong>Kids and Teachers Fighting for Inclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to prevent bullying, cyber-bullying and the escalation of conflicts at school, teachers need specific competences and innovative strategies. The KITE Fighters Toolkit is a complete resource that offers tools and activities based on methodologies such as Storytelling, Folk Tales Work and Symbolwork. Moreover, the Toolkit contains a selection of best practices that can be taken as reference point to improve schools\u2019 strategies, and case studies that have been gathered through interviews. Students and educators can use the Toolkit to create a positive climate and improve the communication inside the classroom, having a real impact on students\u2019 mental health, emotional resilience and on the school atmosphere, and, with a broader perspective, also to decrease social exclusion and bullying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D3 \u2013 Developing Digital Data Literacy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Digital data literacy is an essential step for safer and responsible surfing on the Internet. The Erasmus + D3- Developing Digital Data Literacy project intends to support teachers in this difficult task, providing innovative teaching materials to encourage the conscious use of digital data in secondary school and promote new forms of digital citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D.O.B.T \u2013 Do One Brave Thing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Do One BRAVE Ting Project (D.O.B.T), funded by the Internal Security Fund-Police, has developed in the past two years numerous informative and inspiring resources which, thanks to a simple yet precise language, help young people become more aware of the risks they might face when misusing the Internet and social media tools. In particular, the project developed a brand-new plug-in and Chrome extension which allow users to verify the veracity and reliability of news articles they find online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
