The environment plays a key role in its connection and interaction with the issues of multiculturalism and interculturality characterising our increasingly globalised social contexts. If on the one hand, problems related to the scarcity of resources and hostile natural and social factors have been historically contributed to migration flows, on the other hand, the experience of those who have a migratory background can negatively affect their integration path, compromising inclusion and causing difficulties in the establishment of new relationships. Intercultural education, aimed at developing plural thinking and intercultural communication skills, intertwines and shares aims with environmental education, as both re meant to promote sustainable and participatory integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ program, five partner organisations from France, Spain, Martinique and Italy have recently launched the project \u201cGreenInterculturality: promoting the integration of migrants through environmental awareness and eco-friendly strategies<\/strong><\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The objective is to explore the nexus between interculturality and environmental awareness, while promoting the inclusion of adult migrants through artistic workshops and the promotion of sustainable initiatives, enhancing the knowledge and experience of those who come from a culture different from the one of the host society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Due to the restrictions imposed to cope with the coronavirus pandemic at European level, the Kick-off meeting<\/strong> of the project took place online between November 9th<\/sup> and 10th<\/sup> 2020. The meeting represented the first opportunity to meet and discuss the different responsibilities and roles of each partner, next activities, and the challenges concerning the possibility for social educators and trainers to integrate the natural component<\/strong> into their services to support the integration process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the different phases of the project implementation, therefore, various activities are planned. Initially, the partners will investigate the theme of interculturality and the environment<\/strong>, exploring their different and complex relationships as well as their practical implications from a theoretical and practical perspectives, involving both target groups through interviews and focus groups.
