On October 21-24th<\/sup> 2019, pre-school educators coming from Denmark, Germany, Italy and Cyprus attended successfully the second teacher training of the European project SEEDS: Social Entrepreneurship Empowering Development in Preschools<\/a>. SEEDS project started at the end of November 2018 to develop a common and European pedagogy for kindergartens, in response to the challenges of the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 2019, our European teachers met in Fablab Bremen (Germany) to think about innovative methods in education, based on experimentation <\/strong>and discovery <\/strong>in preschool activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Bremen, through the use of different materials, teachers tested themselves in terms of creativity and how to use technology in a creative way and for educational purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Italy, SEEDS involves 6 teachers from 4 different kindergartens in Palermo (Cooperativa Pueri \u2013 Spazio 06, La Piccola Casa nel Bosco \u2013 Liberamente, Centro internazionale delle culture Ubuntu, Kala Onlus \u2013 Il Giardino di Madre Teresa) working in heterogeneous urban contexts and with pupils aged 3-5 yo having different social backgrounds including many migrant children. Based on their experience in SEEDS, teachers mainly use the \u201cgioco libero orientato\u201d<\/strong>, free but oriented game where children are engaged in the exploration of their surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all the schools, children play and learn together, in common spaces (open or closed areas) and using SEEDS digital devices: ozobots and beebots. They create and draw paths and imaginary settings to make robots move, reproducing obstacles and learning how to code and give instructions to the robots. Children can also use ozobots and beebots to create maps and explain real places in their school or deal with their body mapping. In other learning sessions, children build their hand-made robots using cardboards, wine corks, polystyrene and plywood caps. They put LED coloured lights and moving batteries to make the robot's eyes, hands and body light up and have fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
