{"id":72893,"date":"2019-10-11T10:46:16","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T08:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=72893"},"modified":"2025-09-03T16:12:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:12:49","slug":"rethink-resources-teachers-remembrance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/adult\/rethink-resources-teachers-remembrance\/","title":{"rendered":"RETHINK: new resources to help teachers enter into the logic of Remembrance Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are proceeding steadly with the work of the project&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/rethink\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">RETHINK \u2013 Remembrance Education for THINKing critically<\/a>, aimed at&nbsp;<strong>increasing the skills of teachers and educators in the use of Remembrance Education<\/strong>&nbsp;to stimulate the development of&nbsp;<strong>critical thinking of young students<\/strong>&nbsp;to counter their prejudices, help them understand phenomena such as racism and radicalization and the role of the media in these processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rethink-education.eu\/practices\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">RETHINK Database<\/a>, which&nbsp;<strong>contains good educational practices developed by memorials, museums, organizations and educational centers in Europe<\/strong>&nbsp;is being constantly updated. It allows teachers and educators to search for educational activities according to geographical, content and accessibility criteria, to organise activities at local level or during school trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some practices hosted in the Database have been adapted to classroom work and tested in different schools in Europe. This work has produced the&nbsp;<strong>RETHINK Handbook for Teachers<\/strong>, an additional resource to help them enter into the logic of Remembrance Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the last partnership meeting, which took place in Paris on 29 and 30 August, we listened to the teachers' opinions on the Handbook and we are in the process of revising it. It will soon be available on the project website and in the CESIE Digital Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting we decided on the training modules that will be part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rethink-education.eu\/elearning-platform\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">RETHINK e-learning platform<\/a>&nbsp;for teachers and educators. In recent months the partners have carried out research and administered online questionnaires to teachers to analyse their needs and produce training modules that best match their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titles of the training modules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 \u2013 Making the\u00a0<strong>Past<\/strong>\u00a0Relevant for Today<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 \u2013 Applying\u00a0<strong>Multiperspectivity<\/strong>\u00a0to Remembrance Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3A \u2013 How to Handle\u00a0<strong>Remembrance Site<\/strong>\u00a0Visits: Before, During and After<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3B \u2013 Teaching with\u00a0<strong>Video Testimonies<\/strong>\u00a0of Victims of National Socialism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3C \u2013 Making the Most of\u00a0<strong>Digital Archives<\/strong>\u00a0in Class<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4A \u2013 Dealing with\u00a0<strong>Hate Speech<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4B \u2013 Addressing\u00a0<strong>Propaganda<\/strong>\u00a0Today<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4C \u2013 Deconstructing\u00a0<strong>Prejudices and Stereotypes<\/strong>\u00a0and Fighting\u00a0<strong>Racism<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rethink-education.eu\/elearning-platform\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">RETHINK e-learning platform<\/a>&nbsp;will be active from March 2020.
