{"id":71291,"date":"2020-01-16T18:29:07","date_gmt":"2020-01-16T17:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=71291"},"modified":"2025-07-31T12:11:42","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T10:11:42","slug":"heal-kom-palermo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/news\/heal-kom-palermo\/","title":{"rendered":"HEAL: ethno-psychology and art therapy for the integration of women survivors of trafficking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Data from the research of the European Commission illustrates that there are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/home-affairs\/sites\/homeaffairs\/files\/what-we-do\/policies\/european-agenda-security\/20181204_com-2018-777-report_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><strong>more than 20,000 victims of trafficking in Europe, 68% of whom are women and young girls destined to be exploited sexually<\/strong><\/a>. Forced to sell their bodies or exploited for labor in shameful conditions, victims of trafficking find hardly a way out of the circuits of exploitation. The psychological violence they suffer limits the enjoyment of full freedom and increases the risk of \u201cre-victimization\u201d. \u00a0Those risks are even higher in the absence of a solid network of associations and interventions aiming to support women in their intergration pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, the&nbsp;<strong>beginning of a new life<\/strong>&nbsp;for them inevitably coincides with the&nbsp;<strong>discovery of the lost peace<\/strong>, as well as a&nbsp;<strong>dignified work that guarantees the autonomy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The focus of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/heal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><strong>HEAL - enHancing recovery and integrAtion through networking, empLoyment training and psychological support for women victims of trafficking<\/strong><\/a>, co-financed by AMIF programme of the EC and coordinated by CESIE, focuses on the\u00a0<strong>recovery and integration of women victims of trafficking<\/strong>\u00a0through the involvement of support services and potential employers, the acquisition of new professional skills and the offer of psychological support. For the psychological support, the\u00a0<strong>ethno-psychological approach<\/strong>\u00a0together with\u00a0<strong>art therapy<\/strong>\u00a0is the core for the assistance and recovery of the victims. In this sense, the socio-cultural factors, relevant to the community of each victim, will be taken into the consideration to further support the recovery and inclusion process of such vulnerable subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, the project aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Encourage the inclusion processes for women,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote the development of collaboration networks between actors working with victims and survivors of trafficking,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote the psychological recovery of victims and acquisition of professional skills,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make the victims aware of their rights and the services they can access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These main points were better defined during the Kick-off meeting organized and coordinated by CESIE on 23 and 24 October 2019 in Palermo. On this occasion, together with the project partners,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmop.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">KMOP<\/a>\u00a0(Greece),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.surt.org\/%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Fundaci\u00f3 Surt<\/a>\u00a0(Spain),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/patrir.ro\/%20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">PATRIR<\/a>\u00a0(Romania) e\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.libera.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">LIBERA<\/a>\u00a0(Italy) we defined the guidelines along which the specific activities of the project will be developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the two years of the project (01.10.2019 - 30.09.2021), we are committed to implement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>activities aimed at identifying the needs of women victims\/ survivors of trafficking, as well as the specificities of the services that offer them support and the demands of potential employers,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>round tables and meetings for the establishment of a solid network of support services,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>recovery and social inclusion programmes through the use of visual art tools (<em>Fanzines<\/em>),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>awareness raising events and meetings, including the exhibition of the works created by women survivors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quoting Primo Levi, \u201c<em>It easily happens to those who have lost everything, to lose themselves<\/em>\u201d.
