{"id":69755,"date":"2019-10-14T13:54:58","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T11:54:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/?p=69755"},"modified":"2025-09-03T16:11:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:11:25","slug":"rec-face-violence-creative-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/get-involved\/rec-face-violence-creative-way\/","title":{"rendered":"REC: how to face sensitive topics on violence in a creative and inclusive way?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to answer this question, 13 enthusiastic young people from Italy, Spain, Senegal, Gambia and Greece have come together for the past two weeks in the&nbsp;<strong>REC Labs<\/strong>&nbsp;to reflect on the causes and consequences of violence with the objective of creating short videos through experimental filmmaking methods as a means to prevent it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workshops are part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/rec\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><strong>REC&nbsp;<\/strong>-&nbsp;<strong>Reflect Experiment Capture<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;project. The project involving young people from three different continents aims at: &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Developing technical competences in\u00a0<strong>experimental videomaking<\/strong>\u00a0through peer learning among\u00a0<strong>youth<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting innovative schemes to\u00a0<strong>prevent violence<\/strong>\u00a0among the youth using experimental videos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exchanging good practices in the fields of\u00a0<strong>non-formal education<\/strong>, media and violence prevention between social youth workers from Italy, Spain, Germany, Indonesia and Kenya as partner countries of the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On&nbsp;<strong>3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;October 2019<\/strong>, the first&nbsp;<strong>REC Lab<\/strong>&nbsp;was held at CESIE offices in which participants got to know each other, reflect on the onset of violence and familiarize with experimental videomaking techniques to be used for their final project on violence prevention. The participants got a chance to get acquainted with the video equipment to be used during the&nbsp;<strong>workshops<\/strong>, by shooting videos interviewing each other. They were also asked to share their passions, hopes, fears and motivation for joining the project. The non-formal activities introduced during the workshop created a platform for the participants to openly and inclusively share their ideas regarding the main topics of discussion. They were requested to team up, and come up with ideas to prevent violence by thinking on its challenges, origin and consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both participants and trainers showed great excitement to work together as a team&nbsp;<strong>during the next months.
