After almost 3 years of hard work on\u00a0contrasting sexual violence and harassment through digital education<\/strong>\u00a0in Italy, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland and UK,\u00a0CONVEY - Counteracting sexual violence and harassment: Engaging Youth in schools in digital education on gender stereotyping<\/a>\u00a0is coming to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partners first met at CESIE offices for the last time on 9th<\/sup> April. They gathered thoughts and reflected on what their impact has been through CONVEY in the different project countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018With your presence you are already delivering an important message against gender-based violence, in favour of gender equality, and thus I thank you.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these words, the following morning, the #IsayNotoSexualViolence - CONVEY Final Conference<\/strong> was launched on 10th<\/sup> April<\/strong>, when a large audience of partners, international experts, teachers and students who had participated in the CONVEY Pilot Programme<\/strong> in Italy, met at Camplus<\/strong>, the conference venue in Palermo.  The conference was an opportunity to present answers to all the questions the project had posed in relation to gender-based violence, harassment and gender stereotypes prevention to a larger public<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first panel was opened by the Regional School Office Councilor, Fiorella Palumbo<\/strong> and regarded current local strategies towards an education which respects gender equality<\/strong>. A detail account by partner organisations in the different countries related to challenges, satisfactions and main achievements of CONVEY followed. In total, more than 300 students and about 30 teachers were involved in the project transnationally and what stood out even more than numbers was their increasing motivation and interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, both students and teachers from\u00a0Educandato Statale Maria Adelaide<\/a>\u00a0and Liceo Classico Vittorio Emanuele II<\/a>\u00a0testimonies at the Conference spoke for themselves:\u00a0reflection, and understanding, learning, recognition of women\u2019s rights, of the need to fight gender-based violence and gender stereotypes<\/strong>\u00a0were among some of the feedbacks from their\u00a0training experience<\/strong>\u00a0within the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts from partner countries also had their say during the\u00a0Final Conference<\/strong>, where they shared their approach to education against gender-based and sexual violence in the partner countries. The Conference closed with a brief account of preliminary results for the behavioral change study conducted during the delivery of the\u00a0CONVEY pilot programme to students, the presentation of the videogame<\/strong>:\u00a0CONVEY \u2013 Not a Game<\/a>\u00a0and the award to the winners of the\u00a0CONVEY Creative Contest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, all participants gathered for the CONVEY campaign. They came together to say NO to sexual violence, to say NO to gender-based violence, to say NO to gender stereotypes. They said: #IsayNotoSexualViolence<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

CONVEY -\u00a0<\/a>Counteracting sexual violence and harassment: Engaging Youth in schools in digital education on gender stereotyping<\/a>\u00a0is co-funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of the European Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of\u00a0the CONVEY\u00a0<\/a>project<\/strong>\u00a0has focused around finding a way to do just that, and being creative about it, so that lay people, and especially young people who are not familiar with\u00a0gender issues<\/strong>\u00a0can be inspired to learn and ultimately\u00a0change their attitudes and behaviours towards gender stereotypes and the sexualisation of women (and men!), especially in digital media<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
