What&nbsp;<strong>challenges<\/strong>&nbsp;employers usually face? What&nbsp;<strong>support<\/strong>&nbsp;do they need to successfully integrate refugees into the workplace?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong>&nbsp;COME IN&nbsp;<\/strong>partnership carried out an extensive transnational research to answer these questions and find out how the labour integration of refugees can be best supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COME IN Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The findings from the questionnaires and interviews suggest that employing refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants embodies various&nbsp;<strong>benefits<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>advantages<\/strong>&nbsp;not only for employers and refugees but also the host country. Having a job enables refugees to contribute to the tax and welfare system and working with local colleagues supports the acquisition of language skills, helps refugees learn local norms and fosters mutual trust and empathy. Top three assets refugees bring to employers are then&nbsp;<strong>increased intercultural awareness<\/strong>&nbsp;at workplace,&nbsp;<strong>broaden horizons<\/strong>&nbsp;and refugees\u2019 strong<strong>&nbsp;motivation&nbsp;<\/strong>to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Major&nbsp;<strong>challenges<\/strong>&nbsp;encountered by employers are&nbsp;<strong>linguistic<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>barriers<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>administrative<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>burdens<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>legal<\/strong>&nbsp;uncertainty and difficulties with recognition of refugees\u2019&nbsp;<strong>qualification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once identified and acknowledged these obstacles can be overcome by well-tailored support and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COME IN Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on the research, COME IN will offer a&nbsp;<strong>comprehensive training<\/strong>&nbsp;designed to meet the needs and preferences of European employers including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an orientation course giving more insight into\u00a0<strong>refugees\u2019 employment background<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>refugees\u2019\u00a0<strong>competence assessment<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>diversity management<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>on-the-job training<\/strong>\u00a0for refugees;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>language support<\/strong>\u00a0for refugees at work;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and additional online training materials on\u00a0<strong>legal aspects<\/strong>\u00a0of employing refugees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training materials are customised to the needs of employers in the&nbsp;<strong>sectors<\/strong>&nbsp;most relevant for the refugees\u2019 employment \u2013&nbsp;<strong>tourism<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>hospitality<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>healthcare<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>manual-based&nbsp;<\/strong>work (including handicraft, manufacturing, agriculture or constructions) and&nbsp;<strong>cultural mediation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The training pilots<\/strong>&nbsp;will be launched starting in&nbsp;<strong>January 2019<\/strong>&nbsp;in all partner countries.
