The psychological and social benefits of the Quiet Time with Transcendental Meditation Programme for schools\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A seminar took place on the 19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of October 2018 at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ualg.pt\/en\/content\/faculty-human-and-social-sciences-fchs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><strong><u>University of Algarve, Faculty of Human and Social Sciences<\/u><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Faro, Portugal and was attended by the EUROPE project team, principals, teachers and students who have experienced or are willing to explore\u00a0<strong>the Quiet Time based on Transcendental Meditation Programme\u00a0<\/strong>approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seminar presented the results and impact of the&nbsp;<strong>EUROPE project<\/strong>&nbsp;(Ensuring Unity and Respect as Outcomes for the People of Europe) that introduced an innovative approach to improve&nbsp;<strong>social inclusion<\/strong>, reduce violence, suspensions and drop-out rates of students and burn-out of teachers. The approach was implemented in the schools across Portugal, Sweden and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teachers were trained in the framework of the project and the Quiet Time\/TM approach was included into the school curricula. Students were engaged in Quiet Time moments for 15 minutes at the beginning and 15 minutes at the end of the school day. EUROPE project partners (University of Algarve and Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) have implemented the qualitative and quantitative research evaluation with the students, teachers and parents to understand the effects of the Quiet Time\/TM approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So if you are wondering what are the&nbsp;<strong>preliminary findings of the research<\/strong>, we can say that it shows that for those students who have been practicing Quiet Time\/TM there is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase in cooperation skills and peers\u2019 connection and higher flexibility in relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Higher ability to express feelings and needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Significant higher satisfaction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Significant decrease in negative feelings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less anxiousness to be humiliated by others in social settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trend towards higher satisfaction with school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trend towards more positive feelings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trend towards more positive school climate, a safer environment and better wellness and resilience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The analysis of the results will be continued looking deeper into such aspects as the school climate, grades and suspension rates. We will update you on what will be discovered!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Meditation helped me to have more control over myself.
