Education has a crucial role in favouring the inclusion of newly arrived TCN children in our societies. It is in schools that for the first time they enter in contact with the hosting society. On the other side, schools play a crucial role in raising awareness among European children on the values of diversity and tolerance. Through the interaction with peers with different cultures and habits, children and young people can develop skills and attitudes allowing them to become active and responsible citizens in our societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indeed, teachers and schools need skills and knowledge to support their students in this process and to manage multicultural environments in which each person should be valued and accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IntegratEd partnership is developing an Education Support Model that will be tested in secondary schools in Greece, Italy and Spain to foster the inclusion of TCN newly arrived students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to develop an effective and efficient model, IntegratEd partners met in Palermo (Italy) on the 6th<\/sup> and 7th<\/sup> of September for a Transnational Workshop to promote cooperation and networking with schools, educational institutions, etc. The purpose of the Transnational Workshop <\/strong>has been to present the work done so far to teachers and other school stakeholders from Greece, Italy and Spain in order to receive further inputs and feedbacks on the Education Support Model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The workshop has been crucial to get insights on the challenges that teachers face when addressing diversity and intercultural education in their schools. Teachers feedback on the project, the educational support model and the other deliverables presented has been extremely positive. Teachers also shared their experience and knowledge on the education system, their schools and their approach towards inclusion of TCN students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Partners also discussed the way forward.
