Manifesta 12 Palermo explores coexistence in a world moved by in-visible networks, transnational private interests, algorithmic intelligence, environmental crisis and ever-in-creasing inequalities. It looks at this world through the unique lens of Palermo \u2013 a city at the crossroads of three continents in the heart of the Mediterranean. Closely collaborating with Palermitans, Manifesta 12 co-inhabits Palermo as an ideal place to investigate the challenges of our time, and to experiment with traces of possible futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titled&nbsp;<em>The Planetary Garden: Cultivating Coexistence<\/em>, it hosts three main sections: Garden of Flows, Out of Control Room and City on Stage. It takes place in the magnificent Botanical Garden and in other 20 historical, sacred, modern and previously abandoned locations in the city center and beyond, among which Palazzo Butera, Palazzo Forcella De Seta, Palazzo Costantino e Oratorio San Lorenzo. It re-occupies the Teatro Garibaldi as the heart and central meeting place for Manifesta 12 different programmes. Besides the main programme, which consists of 50 projects, installations, videos, performances and public interventions, Manifesta 12 unfolds through a programme of talks, conferences and performances (Public Programme) and a programme of screenings (Film Programme) which takes place at Teatro Garibaldi, in the garden designed by Coloco and Gilles Cl\u00e9ment at Zen 2 and at Arena La Sirenetta, an iconic open-air cinema which reopens after 12 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manifesta 12 is curated by an interdisciplinary group of Creative Mediators composed of Bregtje van der Haak, a renowned Dutch documentary&nbsp; filmmaker and journalist; Andr\u00e9s Jaque, a Spanish architect, founder of the Office for Political Innovation and professor at Columbia University; Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, a Sicilian-born architect and partner at OMA\/AMO and Mirjam Varadinis, a Swiss contemporary art curator at Kunsthaus Zurich.
