What are the benefits<\/strong> of refugees\u2019 integration to the labour market? What challenges<\/strong> employers usually face? How to overcome the obstacles and successfully interact with migrants in labour market?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These questions become fundamental if we start to think of refugees<\/strong>, asylum<\/strong> seekers<\/strong> and migrants<\/strong> as of an enormous pool of talents<\/strong> for employers. Indeed, European labour markets lack workforce in different sectors and migrants represent a valuable human capital to fill this gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first phase of\u00a0COME IN project<\/a>, the partnership carried out an extensive\u00a0transnational research<\/strong>\u00a0to answer these questions and find out how the integration of refugees into the workplaces can be best supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the research results, employing refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants brings various benefits<\/strong> and advantages<\/strong> not only for employers and refugee employees but also to the society of the host country. Even though some challenges<\/strong> accompany refugees\u2019 employment, once identified and acknowledged they can be overcome by well-tailored support<\/strong> and training<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such training should be adapted to the employers\u2019 needs yet being universal enough to ensure high transferability. To meet these requirements, we identified sectors<\/strong> most relevant for the refugees\u2019 employment and focused the further development of the training programme to them. COME IN Training will target especially the needs of employers in tourism and hospitality<\/strong>, healthcare<\/strong>, manual-based work<\/strong> (including handicraft, manufacturing, agriculture or constructions) and cultural mediation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project partners discussed the research results at their second meeting in Palermo on 14th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup> May 2018. From a fruitful debate emerged also a draft of five Modules of COME IN Training Programme focused on general information on refugees\u2019 background<\/strong>, diversity management<\/strong>, on-the-job training programmes <\/strong>and competence assessment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COME IN \u2013 Competences in Enterprises on Integration<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 is a two-year project funded by\u00a0Erasmus+ programme<\/strong>\u00a0of the European Union under KA2: Co-operation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices \u2013 Strategic Partnership for vocational education and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
