And the role and use of&nbsp;<strong>physical activity in mentoring<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting from these questions the partners of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/ssams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">SSaMs - Training sports students as mentors<\/a>\u00a0gathered in the second project meeting, which took place at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.upol.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Palack\u00e9ho University of Olomouc<\/a>\u00a0(CZ) on May 21st and 22nd, started a reflection that will guide the\u00a0<strong>development of educational materials aimed at sports students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The learning materials of SSaM will transfer to undergraduate sports students the skills necessary to&nbsp;<strong>support boys and young men through sports<\/strong>, motivate them to stay in school as well as to&nbsp;<strong>support their mental and emotional health<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reflection considered among other some factors such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the role of the family and school;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>social and peer pressure<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the\u00a0<strong>influence of gender stereotypes<\/strong>\u00a0such as those related to masculinity in the development of the young adult.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While on the&nbsp;<strong>role of physical activity for the promotion of mental health<\/strong>&nbsp;some key aspects addressed are the&nbsp;<strong>type of physical activity to be proposed<\/strong>&nbsp;based on the characteristics of the recipients, the&nbsp;<strong>opportunity to create social connection<\/strong>s and&nbsp;<strong>mentoring as a way to tackle mental health problems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SSaMs partners discussed also the results of the&nbsp;<strong>needs analysis<\/strong>&nbsp;conducted in the past few months and addressed to the academic staff and students of sports sciences faculties, from UK, Ireland, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Italy and three extra countries: Cyprus, Finland and Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The survey was conducted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>to\u00a0<strong>identify the current situation in each country<\/strong>, the existence of programs specifically aimed at supporting boys and young men,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to\u00a0<strong>recognize the learning needs and preferences<\/strong>\u00a0regarding the development of learning materials\u00a0<strong>on mentoring and sport<\/strong>\u00a0as means to support young men positive development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been found that in the European context&nbsp;<strong>the development of gender-specific initiatives and policies is a fairly novel factor<\/strong>&nbsp;and the same is also for the university sports departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results of the needs analysis together with the material developed within the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/mengage.co.uk\/mentoring-male\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Mangage<\/a>&nbsp;initiative will form the basis of the SSaMs educational material, on which the partners will work in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/ssams\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">SSaMs \u2013 Training Sport Students as Mentors to Improve the Educational Attainment of Boys and Young Men<\/a>&nbsp; is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program, Key Action 2 Strategic Partnerships in the field of higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is developing an&nbsp;<strong>approach in contrasting school dropout<\/strong>&nbsp;which combines&nbsp;<strong>sports, mentoring and attention to gender differences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Partners<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p
