The way we talk about migration can make the difference<\/strong> and can change the perception we have about this phenomenon. The great challenge is to add value to migration and migrants <\/strong>creating active citizenship approaches <\/strong>through Italian and European associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VOICES - Voices of Solidarity<\/a> aims to sensitize the citizenship on the values of freedom and democracy through a series of creative arts<\/strong> that involve youth and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this instance, we will organise a\u00a0parade based on welcoming and with the involvement of 4 associations<\/strong>\u00a0located in Palermo:\u00a0Giocherenda<\/a>,\u00a0Donne di Benin City<\/a>, Filo da torcere, Donne dello Zen<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giocherenda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From pular dialect Giocherenda<\/em> means joy and sharing<\/strong>. It is an entrepreneurial project<\/strong> dealing with the creation of artisanal games<\/strong> and the organisation of workshops on creativity, intercultural education, reading and resilience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donne di Benin City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is an association of women from Benin City, ex-victims of human trafficking who have decided to lead a new life<\/strong>. The women created a centre as a safe space for other women to get support and advice on a range of issues, and to share skills and experience<\/strong>. They organise also handicraft workshops realizing bags and jewels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filo da torcere<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is a sewing course<\/strong> that was born within Moms meeting: uno spazio per le donne<\/em><\/strong> project. The course involve each week a lot of migrant and local women at the Salesians\u2019 Santa Chiara centre<\/strong>, which had become a point of reference for many disadvantaged people in Palermo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donne dello Zen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is a centre that hosts women coming from Zen<\/strong>, an economically deprived quarter in Palermo in which women suffer from domestic violence and unemployment<\/strong>. Once a week these women follow a sewing course to develop or to acquire skills in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, the 4 local associations will create the costums for the parade through workshops<\/strong> that will involve men and women that want to share ideas about the topic through art<\/strong>. The associations and people will participate to the parade with the purpose of presenting the arrival, the welcome, media and multiculturalism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voices of Solidarity (VOICES) events will take place in Palermo in July 2018.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first one will be on the\u00a06th July at Biblioteca di Casa Professa<\/strong>\u00a0with the theatre performance of BORDERLINE<\/strong>. On the\u00a011th<\/sup>\u00a0July<\/strong>, we will organise the parade\u00a0Welcome<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and after\u00a02 theatre performances<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0ArteStudio<\/a>\u00a0(Roma) and\u00a0Dan Perjovschi<\/strong>\u00a0(Romania) will take place \u2013 further information available soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VOICES will be introduced at Explora in Rome from 20th to 22nd April<\/strong>, with\u00a0performances and workshops dedicated to freedom of expression and other European values and principles<\/strong>, thanks to collaboration with local and international artists, performers and actors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
