How to raise awareness<\/strong> on the problem of social inclusion of migrant children at schools in the Mediterranean area<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kick off meeting of the MEDIS project took place on the 27th<\/sup> and 28th<\/sup> February in Girona (Spain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its main goal is to create more inclusive school systems in the Mediterranean area<\/strong> facing a common social challenge: including newly arrived migrants in the society, overcoming language and cultural barriers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the validation of an\u00a0existing social inclusion plan called\u00a0LIC Plan<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(Language, Immigration and Social Inclusion) developed in Catalonia (Spain), we will elaborate the\u00a0MEDIS Programme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will practice the programme in primary and secondary schools characterized by a certain percentage of migrant students in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria and Cyprus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MEDIS Programme will provide language education as the main integration tool among migrant students<\/strong> but also a socio-cultural education training<\/strong> developed for teachers<\/strong> in order to give them the necessary professional skills to teach how to live in a multicultural society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final goal is to enhance the social inclusion in at least 90 primary and secondary schools in the six European countries involved<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second partner meeting will take place in Athens (Greece) on September 2018, to discuss about the first project\u2019s achievements and results and follow the ongoing MEDIS action plan and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
