{"id":53788,"date":"2018-02-02T16:49:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T15:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/justice\/social-entrepreneurship-for-roma-communities-serco-results\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T17:27:49","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T15:27:49","slug":"social-entrepreneurship-for-roma-communities-serco-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/justice\/social-entrepreneurship-for-roma-communities-serco-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Entrepreneurship for Roma Communities: SERCo results"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is it possible to promote&nbsp;<strong>social economy<\/strong>&nbsp;as an effective instrument for<strong>&nbsp;Roma social inclusion<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Training people with a Roma background<\/strong>\u00a0was one of the main activities of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/serco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">SERCo \u2013 Social Entrepreneurship for Roma Communities<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 project, co-funded by the REC Programme of the DG Justice of the European Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In each of the partner countries represented in the project, at least&nbsp;<strong>28 members of the Roma communities were trained<\/strong>&nbsp;about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>social entrepreneurship<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>setting up a\u00a0<strong>social enterprise<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the role of a\u00a0<strong>cultural mediator for Roma communities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We involved policy makers and stakeholders in the field of the social and economic inclusion of Roma people in a series of&nbsp;<strong>public roundtables and info days<\/strong>, which provided the chance for all to share experiences and learn from each other, while setting up the priorities for the socio-economic inclusion of Roma people in the partner countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A whole set of\u00a0<strong>training modules for Roma mediators<\/strong>\u00a0is now available through the project website as a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/moodle.serco-project.eu\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">learning platform<\/a>. The four modules focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the role of social entrepreneurship for the social inclusion of Roma people,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Roma cultural mediator,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the difficulties of setting up a social enterprise,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the practical steps to set up an enterprise in each of the project countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training material is available in English, Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, French, Spanish and Italian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/serco-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">serco-project.eu<\/a>, users can also access the\u00a0<strong>SERCo Virtual Community<\/strong>, an online space designed for stakeholders and members of the Roma communities to share experiences and build a community of Roma mediators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SERCo\u00a0<\/strong>is a 2-year project co-funded by the<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/justice\/grants1\/programmes-2014-2020\/justice\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">\u00a0Justice Programme 2014-2020<\/a>\u00a0with the aim to promote social economy as an effective instrument for national and EU Roma social inclusion strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nine organisations participate in the project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unipi.gr\/unipi\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">University of Piraeus Research Center\u00a0<\/a>(Greece, coordinator);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.erionet.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">ERIO \u2013 European Roma Information Office\u00a0<\/a>(Belgium);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/idearom.jimdo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">IDEA ROM Onlus<\/a>(Italy);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amalipe.com\/index.php?nav=home&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">AMALIPE \u2013 Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance<\/a>(Bulgary);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/acpsipakiv.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">AFRR \u2013 Asociatia Femeilor Rome din Romania<\/a>(Romania);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FPC \u2013 Fundaci\u00f3 Privada Pere Closa (Spain);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.4-elements.org\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">FOUR ELEMENTS\u00a0<\/a>(Greece);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TMAF \u2013 Tolerance and Mutual Aid Foundation (Bulgary);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CESIE (Italy).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can follow the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sercommunities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">project FB page<\/a>\u00a0and SERCo\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/serco-project.eu\/it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">project website<\/a>.<br \/>For further information, please contact \u00a0<a href=\"mailto:justice@cesie.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">justice@cesie.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Training people with a Roma background was one of the main activities of the SERCo.
