Europe recognizes to the youth workers<\/strong> a strategic role<\/strong> in the creation of concrete spaces of contact, exchange, sharing between young people and generations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the increase of the migratory flows, youth workers feel the urge to acquire new skills to work effectively with young migrants and refugees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

An event was organised on Friday 15th<\/sup> December<\/strong> at the Salesians\u2019 Santa Chiara centre<\/strong>, which had become a point of reference for the immigrants in Palermo<\/strong>. The place indeed hosts recently arrived immigrants, providing advice and orientation and childcare facilities<\/strong>. Many youth workers and volunteers work daily in the centre organising leisure activities for the hosting people.<\/p>\n

The aim of the event was to share the intellectual outputs of the Papyrus project<\/strong> with an audience composed by youth workers and young refugees.<\/p>\n

The platform<\/a> that contains the main results already developed was showed.<\/p>\n

The comparative report<\/a>, with the existing activities with migrants organised in each partner countries from different organisations and institutions and the toolkit<\/a> n.1.<\/p>\n

The toolkit, called \u201cMulticultural understandings and working in Multicultural Environments with Youth Refugees\u201d is , designed to support youth workers carrying out activities with young migrants and containing also activities for youth workers that can reflect about the concept of multiculturalism.<\/p>\n

During the event, some youth workers that belong to the Quality assessment & monitoring committee<\/em><\/strong> in Italy shared also their opinion regarding the Papyrus project and the toolkit.<\/p>\n

Pictures<\/a> of the Centro Diaconale La Noce- Istituto Valdese<\/em> \u00a0were shared with the audience: Syrian families and young refugees put in practice the activities described in the toolkit. They were really helpful for the Papyrus project.<\/p>\n

In January the Papyrus team met in Manchester to discuss the first year of the PAPYRUS Project and the steps forward will be made for the next year.<\/p>\n

PAPYRUS \u2013 Professional Action and Practice for Youth Refugees and Asylum Seekers<\/a>\u00a0is co-funded by\u00a0Erasmus+ Key Action 2: Co-operation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices \u2013 Strategic Partnership in the field of YOUTH<\/strong>\u00a0with the main aim to raise and\u00a0sustain quality youth work<\/strong>\u00a0in Europe by fostering strategies to\u00a0combat segregation and discrimination of displaced youth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
