{"id":53748,"date":"2018-01-16T13:01:24","date_gmt":"2018-01-16T12:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/migration\/ragazzi-harraga-4-messages-to-celebrate-multiculturalism-and-inclusive-learning-approch\/"},"modified":"2025-07-30T10:44:23","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T08:44:23","slug":"ragazzi-harraga-4-messages-to-celebrate-multiculturalism-and-inclusive-learning-approch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/migration\/ragazzi-harraga-4-messages-to-celebrate-multiculturalism-and-inclusive-learning-approch\/","title":{"rendered":"Ragazzi Harraga: 4 messages to celebrate multiculturalism and inclusive learning approch"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sharing\u00a0<strong>cultural, gastronomic and musical traditions<\/strong>\u00a0to celebrate\u00a0<strong>an inclusive learning path for unaccompanied minors\u00a0<\/strong>in Palermo: on the 15<strong><sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0December\u00a0Amine, Md Razib, Salom Dabo Vieu, Mento, Khaossou, Nieves, Ebrima, Moro, Lamin, Mamadou, Justin, Aboul, Peter e Sabbir,<\/strong>\u00a0with the supervision of<strong>\u00a0the facilitators, Ben and Numu,\u00a0<\/strong>threw a <a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/migration\/ragazzi-harraga-closing-party-of-the-intercultural-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><strong>party<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to celebrate the end of the first cycle of\u00a0<strong>Ragazzi Harraga intercultural workshop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The party was held at Santa Chiara, where the workshops also took place.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Numerous people attended the event<\/strong>, creating a joyful atmosphere which allowed&nbsp;<strong>the youths<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>express themselves and speak about their journey and their country of origin<\/strong>&nbsp;in front of an attentive audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition,&nbsp;<strong>they addressed&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Italian and migrant youths living in Palermo and society at large&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>and shared&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>4 message,&nbsp;<\/strong>which give us an idea of&nbsp;<strong>the scope of their learning experience throughout the workshops<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Different cultures and religions can peacefully coexist<\/strong>: having visited a mosque and a church in Palermo, the youths became aware of the values shared by these two religions,\u00a0<strong>laying the foundations for building interreligious dialogue<\/strong>. These are the main ideas\u00a0<strong>Moro<\/strong>, a Senegalese young man, conveyed to the attendees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Islam should not become synonym with terrorism<\/strong>: the youths feel\u00a0<strong>Italian people hold this misconception<\/strong>, therefore they believe it is their duty to say that\u00a0<strong>Islam is a religion of peace<\/strong>. A young Senegalese man,\u00a0<strong>Khassou<\/strong>, took the responsibility of sharing this message.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It is necessary for Italian and foreign youngsters to meet and work together<\/strong>. Participants know it is not easy to get acquainted with locals, therefore they were eager to talk with them in order to\u00a0<strong>overcome their mistrust<\/strong>. They also address their message to young foreigners to whom they also asked to be more openminded and closer to Italians. As a matter of fact, it is the only way to\u00a0<strong>create a multicultural society<\/strong>. These are the main ideas conveyed by\u00a0<strong>Ibrahim<\/strong>, a Guinean youngster.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally\u00a0<strong>Lamine<\/strong>, a young Gambian,\u00a0<strong>invited the young and adult migrants in Palermo<\/strong>\u00a0who are living a delicate situation waiting for their documents or their permit of residence to be issued, or looking forward to being interviewed by the commission, or filling in the asylum request module,\u00a0<strong>not to be anxious and not to get demotivated<\/strong>, but to\u00a0<strong>use this time to invest in themselves, learn Italian, work at projects, get to know the city and its inhabitants<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delivered by CESIE, the workshops were part of<strong>&nbsp;an intense journey&nbsp;<\/strong>which saw participants discuss<strong>&nbsp;several crucial issues such as identities, cultures and religions<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;coming together and&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>creating a new one w<\/strong>hich acknowledges people\u2019s cultural diversity and variety of experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>intercultural workshop allowed us to grow<\/strong>, think deeply and&nbsp;<strong>get to know better<\/strong>&nbsp;these brave young men and women who are eager to&nbsp;<strong>start a meaningful and inclusive journey<\/strong>; they gave us&nbsp;<strong>hope<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>build a peaceful society where different cultures may coexist and blossom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The second cycle of intercultural workshop promoted by CESIE will start in a few months<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;and we hope we could work together with a new group of Italian and migrant participants.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/harraga\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Ragazzi Harraga\u00a0<\/a>is funded via\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondazionecariplo.it\/it\/news\/servizi\/bando-never-alone-al-via-i-progetti.html\" target=\"_blank\"
