Work-based learning for seasonal hospitality workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How to <strong>enhance competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises<\/strong> in <strong>hospitality<\/strong> and <strong>tourism<\/strong> sector?<\/p>\n<p>How to foster the <strong>productivity<\/strong> and <strong>motivation <\/strong>of <strong>seasonal<\/strong> <strong>workers<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>What is the best <strong>training<\/strong> to deliver the proper mix of <strong>skills, knowledge and attitudes required<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Italy<\/strong>, as well as in <strong>Greece<\/strong> and <strong>Croatia<\/strong>, most <strong>tourism enterprises<\/strong> are <strong>small and medium-sized<\/strong> and often <strong>run by families<\/strong>. <strong>Employees<\/strong> in such small businesses may <strong>lack a specific education or training<\/strong> which can result in <strong>lower level of customer service<\/strong>, <strong>reduced job satisfaction<\/strong> and <strong>poor morale<\/strong> leading to a high turnover and costs associated with hiring and training new staff.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/media\/cesie.org_description_SeasonReady.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><strong>SeasonReady<\/strong><\/a> project intends to provide a <strong>work-based learning<\/strong> <strong>programme <\/strong>designed to close the <strong>skill-gap of seasonal hospitality<\/strong> and <strong>tourism workers<\/strong> and so improve the <strong>competitiveness of tourism enterprises<\/strong> and whole sector.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>13<sup>th<\/sup> and 14<sup>th<\/sup> November 2017<\/strong>, partners of the project met for the first time at the kick-off meeting in Zagreb:they planned the <strong>un-coming research<\/strong> and discussed the <strong>methodology of work-based learning<\/strong> and its <strong>adaptability to the specific needs of the hospitality sector<\/strong> in each region.<\/p>\n<p>During all the stages of the project, partners will conduct:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an in-depth <strong>research<\/strong> <strong>on training<\/strong> <strong>needs<\/strong> and <strong>preferences<\/strong> of small and medium hospitality and tourism enterprises considering <strong>regional contexts<\/strong> in partner countries;<\/li>\n<li>the developing of a based on the findings <strong>methodological framework<\/strong> <strong>of work-based learning<\/strong> and a <strong>training material<\/strong> tailored to the needs of seasonal hospitality workers;<\/li>\n<li>a training that will provide in-house trainers with the skills and learning techniques to train their seasonal workforce in three key areas \u2013 <strong>front-line operations<\/strong>, <strong>food and beverages services<\/strong> and <strong>housekeeping<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After piloting of the training, partners will summarize their recommendations for the sustainable exploitation of project products in a <strong>Guide for stakeholders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>SeasonReady is a two and a half year project co-financed by <strong>Erasmus+ programme of the European Union<\/strong> carried out by six partners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iztzg.hr\/en\/institute\/aboutus\/mission\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"
