Many <strong>projects and programmes promoting the study of science<\/strong> and supporting a <strong>positive image of science education<\/strong> have been created since then. Many measures have been adopted trying to <strong>improve students\u2019 interest in science education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Among these measures there are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>implementing <strong>curriculum reforms<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>creating <strong>partnerships <\/strong>between schools and companies, scientists and research centres,<\/li>\n<li>initializing projects focusing on continuing <strong>professional development<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the 6th of November 2017<strong>, SciLit <\/strong>project team met in Palermo to discuss the National and European measures and programmes regarding science education.<\/p>\n<p>During the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> partnership meeting that was hosted by CESIE, SciLit project partners analysed <strong>legal, policy framework and curricula for science education in pre-primary and primary schools<\/strong> in their countries.<\/p>\n<p>We discussed that all our countries adopt both national and regional policies for the implementation of science education in the curricula, presented national guidelines for teacher training and our countries\u2019 universities offer curricula containing scientific subjects for future teachers.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we agreed that even though the strategies have been adopted for improving aspects of science education, there is still a long way to go. European and national levels need to continue working through an <strong>active co-operation<\/strong> on <strong>common policies<\/strong> addressed to the improvement of strategies and to the building on new practices of science teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Within the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/project\/scilit\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">SciLit<\/a>\u00a0project<\/strong> we are developing tools and materials for teachers and educators for\u00a0teaching and promoting science education:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Guide<\/strong> for policy makers, scientists, education professionals and national, regional and local authorities involved in science education.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Classroom materials <\/strong>for teaching\u00a0<strong>natural sciences<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Classroom materials for teaching\u00a0social and human sciences<\/strong>\u00a0bringing archaeology closer to the students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We want to contribute to the improvement of strategies of science teaching and we want to make science education more attractive, because<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<em>Science is an important component of our European cultural heritage. It provides the most important explanations we have of the material world. In addition, some understanding of the practices and processes of science is essential to engage with many of the issues confronting contemporary society<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: right;\">Osborne and J.
