Is it possible to involve children<\/strong> coming from disadvantaged contexts<\/strong> through sporting activities<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

Some trainers put into practice some activities discussed during the ATHLISI training course<\/a> taken place in July 2017. \u00a0The sports activities, carried out through a non-formal approach<\/strong>, allowed 15 children from 8 to 12 years old to participate into team building<\/strong> and cooperation games<\/strong> in Piazza Magione \u2013 Kalsa quarter, Palermo.<\/p>\n

The young participants had an active role during these sessions and through different games they acquired some communication competence<\/strong> and the ability to work in a team<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These activities were very useful also for trainers<\/strong> that implemented new working methods<\/strong> getting positive results from the participants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After this experience, we can argue that sport is a tool for young children to improve social and emotional aspects of their lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Through sports young children can learn how to control their body<\/strong>, develop their sense of awareness <\/strong>and gain self-confidence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

ATHLISI \u2013 Promotion of social integration through the training of the coaches and sport clubs<\/a> is cofounded by the Erasmus+ sport: Support to Collaborative Partnership with the main aim to promote the social inclusion of disadvantaged target groups in sport<\/strong> and support equal access to sport for everyone<\/strong> independently from their socioeconomic background.<\/p>\n
