{"id":53419,"date":"2017-07-17T11:59:30","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T09:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/youth\/2iqm-foster-the-quality-of-mentoring-for-young-volunteers\/"},"modified":"2025-07-16T10:14:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T08:14:24","slug":"2iqm-foster-the-quality-of-mentoring-for-young-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/youth\/2iqm-foster-the-quality-of-mentoring-for-young-volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"2IQM: Foster the quality of mentoring for young volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to&nbsp;<strong>support the activities of the volunteers to guarantee efficiency<\/strong>&nbsp;and a positive impact on the community they are serving?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How could the organizations<strong>&nbsp;foster the quality of mentoring<\/strong>&nbsp;and<strong>&nbsp;improve the quality of the service to the young volunteers<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a reminder, during the 2 years\u2019 project&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/2iqm\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">2IQM \u2013 Initiative for an international qualitative mentoring<\/a>, the following activities have been done:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>during the\u00a0<strong>experimentation phase<\/strong>, the tools were tested by the partners as part of an exchange between European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteers. The organisations from Thailand and Vietnam received a worker for a job shadowing experience. We sent\u00a02 EVS volunteers in Hanoi, Vietnam for 6 months, hosted by Vietnam and Friends, and\u00a01 Youth worker for 8 days. You can read\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/youth\/2iqm-an-experience-in-vietnam-to-support-blind-people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Marco<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/experiences\/evs-an-exciting-fulfilling-rewarding-adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Eleonora<\/a>\u2019s testimonies through our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/experiences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">learning experiences<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the production of a<strong><em>\u00a0Guide to tutoring<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0to support youth organisations improving their tutoring in the\u00a0<strong>final fase<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the development of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mentorcompetences.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Online Mentoring Tool<\/a>\u00a0(OMT) available at <a href=\"http:\/\/mentorcompetences.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"site\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">site<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the first day of the final seminar in Palermo (Italy) on 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0July 2017, we presented with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/adice.asso.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">ADICE<\/a>\u00a0the recruitment process and the management of the volunteers before their departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.volunteerspirit.or.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Volunteer Spirit Association<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/vietnamandfriends.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Vietnam and <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/vietnamandfriends.org\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Friends<\/a>\u00a0introduced the project, the activities and the management of the volunteers during their staying and especially the mentorship. They also discussed their difficulties and how they faced them. They also showed the last version of the website that host the OMT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the second day, we shared the&nbsp;<strong><em>Guide to tutoring<\/em><\/strong>. Moreover, partners have visited the local volunteering centres in Palermo, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.centroastallipalermo.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Centro Astalli<\/a>, a non-profit organization which offers help for thousands of immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees every year;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Centro-Internazionale-delle-Culture-Ubuntu-268827235321\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Centro Internazionale delle Culture Ubuntu<\/a>, an intercultural kindergarten that supports foreign and local minors who live in Palermo city center;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caritaspalermo.it\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=66&amp;Itemid=80%E2%8C%A9=it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Mensa Caritas<\/a>, where hot meals are offered to homeless people, migrants, and families with economic difficulties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/media\/cesie.org_description_2IQM.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">2IQM<\/a>\u00a0project is co-funded by Erasmus+\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/youth\/2iqm-foster-the-quality-of-mentoring-for-young-volunteers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Key Activity 2 \u2013 Capacity Building in the field of youth<\/a>\u00a0with the main aim to\u00a0improve the access to employment of young people by a volunteering experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It brings together six youth organisations involved in volunteering programs, with complementary experience and expertise in the different aspects of volunteers\u2019 tutoring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/adice.asso.fr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">ADICE \u2013 Association pour le d\u00e9veloppement des initiatives citoyennes et europ\u00e9ennes<\/a>\u00a0(France, coordinator);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.volunteerspirit.or.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">VSA Thailand \u2013 Volunteer Spirit Association<\/a>\u00a0(Thailand);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/vietnamandfriends.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">VAF \u2013 Supporting Center for disabled children integrate into community Vietnam and Friends<\/a>\u00a0(Vietnam);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/libertyspromise.org\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Liberty\u2019s Promise<\/a>\u00a0(USA);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CESIE (Italy).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are interested in the activities of 2IQM\u2019s project, please contact <a href=\"mailto:youth@cesie.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">youth@cesie.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How could the organizations foster the quality of mentoring?
