In a world more and more characterized by multiple identities<\/strong> and sense of belonging<\/strong>, it is important to teach children to respect cultural diversity<\/strong>. How can we help teachers to develop competences<\/strong>, tools <\/strong>and new educational strategies<\/strong> based on an intercultural approach<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

On 28th<\/sup>-30th<\/sup> June<\/strong> the final event<\/strong> of the BODI \u2013 Cultural diversity, body, gender, health in early childhood education<\/a> \u2013 project was held in Barcellona<\/strong> (Spain). The project partners and pre-primary teachers from Cyprus<\/strong>, Austria<\/strong>, France<\/strong>, Spain <\/strong>and Italy<\/strong> were involved in three days of debates<\/strong> and workshops<\/strong> on diversity education in an intercultural perspective. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The first day, during the international conference<\/strong>, the project results and final products were presented and various guests \u2013 expert in the fields of education and anti-discrimination \u2013 introduced the open forum on the importance of talking (or not talking) about discrimination in early-childhood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Throughout the other two days, parallel workshops on interculturality<\/strong>, racism<\/strong>, health<\/strong>, gender<\/strong> and sexuality<\/strong> took place in English and Spanish, offering the partners the chance to practically share some of the activities developed in the readers for parent inclusion<\/strong> and for working on the BODI themes directly with children.<\/p>\n

The event ended with a party where we had the chance to meet the teachers, parents and children who took part in the project activities at the local level.<\/p>\n

And now? Heading towards the end of the project, in September<\/strong> 40 pre-primary teachers will test the BODI e-course<\/strong>, a resource that will allow to explore the materials of the various products in a more interactive way.<\/p>\n

BODI – Cultural diversity, body, gender, health in early childhood education<\/a> is a two-year project co-founded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2: Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices \u2013 Strategic Partnership in the field of school education.<\/p>\n

The project aims to contribute to the development of innovative policies and practices for intercultural education<\/strong> through the enhancement of teachers, school staff and parents\u2019 competences in order to encourage full inclusion<\/strong> and engagement of children and parents from different cultural backgrounds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
