The project \u201cLISTEN \u2013 Learning intercultural storytelling\u201d<\/strong>, has launched a European wide online survey on the topic of storytelling as method in education, especially for working with refugees and other involuntary migrants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey is aimed at trainers, facilitators and counsellors<\/strong> working in formal and non-formal adult education, in cultural organisations, voluntary groups and the non-profit sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey has been launched in the seven partner countries: Germany, Austria, Greece, UK, Sweden and Italy. Your answers will help us to define the needs of educators and care takers as a basis for our work in this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Definition of Storytelling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStorytelling is understood to be live oral telling of stories, engaging directly with listeners to create a shared experience. Storying, the process of constructing stories in the mind, is one of the most fundamental ways of making meaning and thus pervades all aspects of learning, regardless of age.\u201d (M. Hamilton and M. Weiss, 2005)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Storytelling methods<\/strong> for education broaden the focus and go beyond situations in which a teller tells a story to an audience. Storytelling methods comprise a large variety of activities that are in some way connected to storytelling or can be seen as preparation steps. This includes developing and constructing stories, e.g. in games, developing language and communication skills to become able to tell stories, using stories as metaphors and stimulation for reflection, sharing biographic stories etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CESIE will be responsible for launching the survey in Italy consulting with in-formal and non-formal adult education, in cultural organisations, voluntary groups and the non-profit sector working at local level in Palermo and at national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results will be compiled into a comprehensive report along with results from in depth interviews with organisations and desk-based research used to support the development of the competences and design of the LISTEN validation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LISTEN is two year project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 \u2013 Strategic Partnerships in the field of Adult education. The LISTEN project aims at introducing storytelling approaches and techniques to a radio environment as a binding factor which brings social and personal benefits for refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership is made up seven partners out of six European countries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
