{"id":53335,"date":"2017-05-19T10:30:21","date_gmt":"2017-05-19T08:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/migration\/art-and-migration-waiting-for-journeys-festival\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T09:16:26","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T08:16:26","slug":"art-and-migration-waiting-for-journeys-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/migration\/art-and-migration-waiting-for-journeys-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Art and migration: waiting for Journeys Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The period of history in which we currently live is marked by <strong>several episodes of racism and xenophobia<\/strong> that exclude the <strong>human part<\/strong> of that people that escape from their country and they see Europe as the place in which they can <strong>start to live again<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cesie.org\/en\/project\/journeys\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Journeys<\/a>\u00a0project celebrates the <strong>talents of refugee artists<\/strong> and delivers powerful strands of artistic activity to widen understanding of refugee experiences. The aim is to facilitate the integration of refugees through the arts and culture.<\/p>\n<p>JOURNEYS is a partnership project led by UK based cultural development agency <a href=\"http:\/\/artreach.biz\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">ArtReach<\/a>, and is a development from its successful <strong>Journeys Festival International<\/strong> project now being delivered in three UK cities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From 16th to 25th June 2017<\/strong>, \u00a0<strong>3 important strands of work<\/strong> will be delivered <strong>in Palermo<\/strong> by <strong>CESIE<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Look-Up<\/em>:<\/strong> a high profile outdoor art exhibition in Piazza Verdi presenting refugee women by <strong>Luca Delfino<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>A short film<\/strong> by <\/em><strong>Jean Paul Barreaud and Alessio Algeri<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>2 Seminars<\/em><\/strong>: the first one <em>\u201cImagining a different reception policy\u201d<\/em>: the idea is to imagine together <strong>new way to interact<\/strong> and the second one <em>\u201cArt and migration: best practices in Italy\u201d<\/em>: discussion about <strong>artistic and cultural path for migrants<\/strong> that able to express themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The complete Festival schedule will be posted soon.
