Digital skills for the publishing sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0<br \/>The Digital Agenda for Europe estimates that the<strong>&nbsp;publishing industries employ<\/strong>&nbsp;around&nbsp;<strong>750,000 jobs<\/strong>&nbsp;in more than 64,000 companies in EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Technology<\/strong>&nbsp;has had an unusual impact and a&nbsp;<strong>massive economic change on publishing<\/strong>: it\u2019s changing the traditional business model and it\u2019s giving a key role to new distribution channels such as aggregation platforms. The&nbsp;<strong>technological evolutions<\/strong>&nbsp;affect the consumption patterns of publishing products and production processes, impacting all the areas of the book publishing value chain (Production \u2013 Design \u2013 Editorial \u2013 Distribution and sales \u2013 Marketing and publicity).<br \/>The passage from physical to digital distribution, the zero marginal cost of producing an additional book, the many competitors entering this industry thanks to the digital technologies, the problems linked to electronic security, are only some of the characteristics of this<strong>&nbsp;revolution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/programmes\/erasmus-plus\/projects\/eplus-project-details-page\/?nodeRef=workspace:\/\/SpacesStore\/14d274a1-fa3e-44be-b0cd-1f4f7462d02d\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">ASAP project \u2018Anticipatory Skills for Adapting the Publishing Sector<\/a>\u2019 takes into account the impact of the changes in the competences and skill, proposes an evolutionary&nbsp;<strong>map of the skill needs<\/strong>&nbsp;and designs and delivers flexible training programmes (one for each area of the publishing supply chain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is funded by the EACEA Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission in the framework of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eacea.ec.europa.eu\/erasmus-plus_en\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Erasmus Plus Programme&nbsp;<\/a>\u2013 Sector Skills Alliances in vocational education and training<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The kick-off meeting of the ASAP project took place at Villa Montesca, in Citt\u00e0 di Castello (Italy) on 1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;-2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;March 2017. Organizzazioni Speciali (Italy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Publishers Association (United Kingdom)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capacity London (United Kingdom)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>O.E.V. National Federation Of Publishers &amp; Booksellers (Greece)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUROTRAINING Educational Organization (Greece)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EOPPEP National Organisation for Certification and Vocational Guidance (Greece)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CEPYME Confederaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de la Peque\u00f1a y Mediana Empresa (Spain)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CECE \u2013 Confederaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Centros de Ense\u00f1anza (Spain)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FEP-FEE F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des Editeurs Europ\u00e9ens FEE ASBL (Belgium)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CESIE (Italy).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to EQF\/ECVET standards and also establishing the quality principles of the EQAVET framework, the project will provide employees, but also unemployed, self-employed, low skilled employees and young VET students the opportunity to&nbsp;<strong>update<\/strong>&nbsp;their<strong>&nbsp;professional skills<\/strong>&nbsp;and knowledge covering the gap related to the lack of specific skills determined by the \u201cdigital revolution\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project expects to&nbsp;<strong>promote<\/strong>&nbsp;a wide<strong>&nbsp;cooperation<\/strong>&nbsp;among the different stakeholders using a participatory portal and a MOOC (Massive Open Online Platform) platform for making the contents at the disposal of a massive target group (it can become the first MOOC of the Publishing Sector), also after the forma end of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For further information, please contact <a href=\"mailto:adult@cesie.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adult@cesie.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Technology has had a massive economic change on publishing.
