Partners of the project SPAcE (Supporting Policy and Action for Active Environments)<\/a><\/strong> have carried out desk based scoping exercises to compile case studies demonstrating good practices in the area of urban active environments (UActiveE) as part of a new EU report supporting active towns and cities and promoting the establishment of UActiveE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report \u201cEU UActivE Summary of Evidence and Good Practice document<\/strong>\u201d, will ensure evidence based support for the integration of active transport programmes (i.e. walking to school, cycle to work schemes etc.) into public policy across the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scoping exercise results will be presented at the \u201cLearning and Sharing of Good Practice Symposium and Workshop<\/strong>\u201d which will take place in Palermo, Italy hosted by CESIE on 5th<\/sup> and 6th<\/sup> November 2015 attended by all partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final case studies will be collated into the EU report which will present a rich mixture of interesting examples of physical and social environments that provide positive encouragement in helping people to be physically active, and to make the active choice from across the regions, but also demonstrate some of the problems and challenges that need to be overcome to create active environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership which met for the first time in March 2015 in Cheltenham, United Kingdom, comprises of 10 partners from across 8 EU countries and includes regional governments from Latvia, Romania, Spain and Greece; Higher Education institutions from the UK (Gloucestershire and Oxford), Switzerland and Greece; non-profit government funded organisation from Finland and an NGO from Italy. It also has support from the World Health Organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPAcE (Supporting Policy and Action for Active Environments)<\/strong> is a three year project co-funded by the Sport: Collaborative Partnerships action of the Erasmus+ Programme <\/strong>and aims to integrate active transport programmes (i.e. walking to school, cycle to work schemes etc.) into public policy across the European Union. The overall aim of the SPAcE project is to make the healthy choice the easy choice through creating sustainable urban active environments in cities and towns across the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
