In the frame of the EU Tempus Project \u201cPromoting Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions in Eastern Neighbourhood Countries through Cultural and Structural Adaptations (PICASA)\u201d, a delegation of 44 Rectors, Vice Rectors, International Relations decision-makers, mostly from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine, were hosted at the University of Genoa on 24th-26th November 2014 so to participate in a strategic workshop regarding the development of the international dimension of study programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) was developed by the European Commission with the objective of avoiding the emergence of new dividing lines between the enlarged EU and our neighbours, and instead strengthening the prosperity, stability and security of all. It is based on the values of democracy, rule of law and respect of human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such training event is one of the important actions aimed at the internationalisation of the teaching offer of the Partner Countries, promoted by the University of Genoa in order to foster the awareness of the Armenian, Belarusian, Georgian and Ukrainian Higher Education Systems towards the new European Union trends and practices, so that to keep as smoother as possible the articulated process of approach to the European integration, which these Countries are facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project, coordinated by the Armenian \u201cYerevan State University\u201d, involves a consortium consisting of 3 Armenian, 4 Georgian, 4 Ukrainian, 3 Belarusian HEIs, the respective Ministries of Education of these Partner Countries, and the following 5 European Union HEIs: Leuven University College \u2013 Belgium, CESIE \u2013 Italy, World University Service \u2013 Austria, Roehampton University \u2013 UK, and the University of Genoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PICASA project will last until November 2016. Its next tasks concern the identification of some study programmes from EU Universities, to be adopted as good practices into the teaching offer of the Partner Countries\u2019 Universities, so that the academic programmes of the Armenian, Georgian, Ukrainian and Belarusian Universities will undergo a process of revision and improvement of their international dimension.
As regards the contribution of the University of Genoa, a preliminary agreement has been taken involving study programmes at the School of Social Sciences and the Polytechnic School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
