\"splus_big\"<\/a>A dense and pleasant training course, such as “Sport Plus: looking up new goals”<\/strong>, came to an end on 15th June. SPLUS is funded with the support of the European Commission, within the framework of Youth in Action programme, Action 4.3.<\/p>\n

From the 7th<\/sup> of June for a week, 40 youth workers and youth trainersfrom Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and United Kingdom, discussed how to use sport as educational tool in order to promote inclusion especially for people with fewer opportunities.<\/p>\n

SPLUS took place in an extremely active way, combining theory and practical workshop through non-formal learning methods. Starting from an analysis of key concepts (fewer opportunities, sport, inclusion, youth work, Erasmus+), participants reflected about the role of sport at local and European level, the youth involvement in sport, motivation of doing outdoor activities and barriers that people can daily face.<\/p>\n

The project had a strong collaboration with Mediterraneo Antirazzista, an annually local sport and cultural event in Palermo. Participants had the chance to meet its organizers, its history and the activities carried out in the numerous edition so far. Moreover they touched deeply such initiative, by taking part in the soccer and volleyball tournament, giving an European dimension to this edition. Thanks to it, they better understood as a sport event can be a good practice and have a societal role able to strengthen active citizenship.<\/p>\n

Lastly, the trainers gave information and tools about the new EU funding opportunities about sport under Erasmus+ Programme. Thus, by putting in practice new acquired skills, participants made new type of games suitable for all people, believing sport has to be for everybody without any exclusion; moreover they developed new project ideas targeting especially social excluded people, preparing the ground for future work collaboration.<\/p>\n
