\"diggin_deep_big\"<\/a>The Kick Off Meeting of \u201cDigging Deep\u201d took place in Beijing (China) from the 4th<\/sup> to the 9th<\/sup> of January 4th 2014: the project \u2013 co-founded by the European Commission under the Youth in Action Programme, action 3.2, is coordinated by CESIE \u2013 European Centre for Studies and Initiatives, and involves partner organizations from 3 continents: KID PiNA (Slovenia), CANGO (China) and IYEC (Ghana).<\/p>\n

\u201cDigging Deep\u201d aims at exploring, within youth work, the issue of urban gardens as means of social inclusion for young people to develop their skills in specific sectors, boosting their active participation, making them better aware of some fundamental themes as health and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

The first meeting allowed partners to get to know each other and discuss on how to manage and develop the project over the next months. Moreover, it was a chance to visit some urban gardens in the peri-urban area of Beijing and the places where Chinese partners intend to create their gardens.<\/p>\n

The project provides for:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. An international workshop in Palermo from April 7th to 12th 2014 on urban gardens with young people from China, Ghana and Slovenia attending.<\/li>\n
  2. The building of the Urban Gardening Local Clubs that will organise 6 local workshops to create an urban garden in Palermo from April to October 2014. Moreover, a guide will be developed on how to create an urban garden collaborating with young people from Slovenia, Ghana and China. In addition, every country will organise a public event at local level in order to promote the urban garden and its activities.<\/li>\n
  3. A final international workshop in Accra, Ghana, in October 2014 (participants will only pay 20% of the price of the ticket + visa).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
