SPACIT partners from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Turkey gathered in London between 21st<\/sup> and 23rd<\/sup> November 2013 for the fourth project meeting. The headquarters of the National Union of Teachers provided the setting for the session dedicated to the development of the SPACIT course and its materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interdisciplinary online and offline course aims at equipping teachers with the learning tools necessary to support active participation of young citizens in the decision-making processes of their communities, from the local to the international level. SPACIT builds on the idea that geomedia, such as digital maps and digital information shared through social media, can work as the basis of an engaged communication and participation in the social and the political life of today\u2019s society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SPACIT partnership started the meeting by embarking in the process of \u201ctranslating\u201d the academic concepts of the SPACIT learning outcomes and objectives into a straightforward, intuitive language for teachers. The final module structure, including the learning materials for each unit, were agreed by partners. The next couple of months will see the further expansion of the SPACIT course modules, which will be tested in Ia\u015fi, Romania, from April 28th<\/sup> to May 2nd<\/sup>, 2014, and will be made available for teachers soon after the pilot course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
