\"Stop<\/a>The 25th<\/sup> of November it\u2019s time to celebrate the International Day<\/em> for the Elimination of Violence against Women. <\/em>The aim of this day is to\u00a0 encourage governments, international and non-governmental organizations to organize activities who make sensitive to violence against women.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, according to the United nations, nearly one in five woman are victims of rape or attempted rape in their life. This day is the opportunity to show the importance and the seriousness of violence against women every day, concerning all the women no matter the culture, region or country. of this phenomenon. In fact, there is different types of violence against women: domestically violence, pedophilia, trade, mutilation, sexual violence in conflict, and crimes that go beyond our imagination.<\/p>\n

According to a research from the World Health Organization, the domestic violence is one of the most important type of violence, 70% of women murdered are killed by their intimate partners. Domestic violence is present in all countries, even in the most advanced ones regarding\u00a0 social, economic and human right development. This kind\u00a0 of violence is not only\u00a0 physical violence, it\u2019s concerning also psychological violence, intimidation, threaten.<\/p>\n

To fight against violence, we can work all together\u00a0 to improve the non-violent culture in our society and specially at school, where the new generation is educated. It\u2019s also important to encourage denunciation of violence and to provide to the victims a strong system of protection ( psychological, economic and social). Governments and communities should work together to ensure effective and lasting impact against this urgent and serious social problem.<\/p>\n

How does CESIE contribute?<\/p>\n

Our current projects related to elimination of Violence against Women:<\/p>\n

Sunia Geel 2 <\/b><\/a>– Take care of yourself.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0The Project provides an increased understanding of the needs of service users, thus creating the possibility of an improved response. It is critical that women are empowered to make informed and safe choices for themselves and their children. The incidence of domestic violence and intra-family violence will be reduced by promoting a zero tolerance approach within marginalized communities and amongst those delivering social services to ethnic minorities.<\/p>\n

ROOT <\/b><\/a>– The involvement of Organized Criminal Groups in the Trafficking of Women for Sexual Exploitation: the case study of Palermo<\/b><\/p>\n

Strictly linked with violence against women is the issue of trafficking in human beings (THB). Sadly, in Italy we can find more than a quarter of the total of identified or presumed victims of THB in the EU, most of them being women that are exploited for sexual purposes.\u00a0 CESIE is now contributing to fight this phenomenon starting from Palermo through its participation in the \u201cROOT\u201d project \u2013 which aims at raising awareness amongst people on trafficking for sexual purposes, as well as at developing a transnational cooperation network with the countries of origin of trafficking (such as Nigeria).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
