Last October, between the 17th and the 18th, the partners of the ProLang project met up in Vilnius, Lithuania, to discuss the upcoming project activities. Beautiful and old Vilnius University, in the very city centre of Vilnius, hosted the meeting, where partners from Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Poland and Italy analysed the recent achievements of the project and planned the future steps. The core phase of the project has, in fact, just begun, and it involves the consortium in the development and realization of a promotional plan, specifically designed to support and publicize the courses of the less spoken languages of Europe, with special focus on Slovene, Slovak and Lithuanian languages. This is all very much in line with the main objective of the project, which aims to promote the learning of less spoken European languages among the youth taking part in mobility programmes, such as the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, Erasmus, and the European Volunteer Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion at the meeting also evolved around the newly available online language test for Slovene, which is now being adjusted to the needs of the users of the online platform\u00a0prolang.net<\/a>. Website visitors from all over Europe are invited to take the test and fill out a short survey to comment and give feedback on the test, so that valuable changes and suggestions can be included in the new language tests, soon available on the website as well. The institutions working on the project will offer tests for the Slovak and Lithuanian languages, and will invite other language course providers, even outside the partnership, to create a language test for their own languages to raise awareness about the importance of speaking the host language for youth in mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ProLang is a project developed by two Slovenian organisations (Spinaker and Virtualis), three universities in Europe (the University of Vilnius, the University of Bratislava, and the University of Ljubljana), one organisation from Poland (Xceed), and finally by CESIE. ProLang is co-financed by the European Commission, under the Longlife Learning Programme, Key Activity 2, and it aims to promote language learning and the linguistic diversity in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
