There is no stronger foundation for lasting peace and sustainable development than a quality education provided by well trained, valued, supported and motivated teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s celebrations will focus on UNESCO\u2019s work on quality teachers for global citizenship and cultural diversity. Teachers develop learners\u2019 abilities to build a sustainable future with citizens who are able to take action in their own communities and contribute to global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why a call for teachers?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because there is a huge shortage of professional, well-trained and well-supported teachers to achieve better quality education. The challenge of recruiting teachers does not lie just in the numbers, but in the provision of quality teachers.
