From the 9th to the 12th of September, 24 participants from 4 different countries took part to the Eat Smart Food Fair in Palermo, and discovered Sicilian realities with link to healthy food and sustainable consumption. They had the opportunity to meet the famous chef Pepp\u00e8 Giuffr\u00e8, and proposed cooking workshops to the audience in Cinese, French and Vietnamese cuisine. They all took place at La Citt\u00e0 del Gusto (Palazzo Branciforte). They also approached other situations like the one a cooperative managed by the association Libera Terra, in San Giuseppe Jato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 11th<\/sup> the Eat Smart Night took place in Palermo, at the beautiful Nuovo Montevergini Theater. Four documentaries made by the participants were presented to the audience, showing to what extend it is possible to promote and spread the word about healthy and responsible consumption, at local, and international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 100 persons attended the event, and had the chance to taste the delicious Chinese, French and Vietnamese food prepared in the morning workshops with Italian participants eager to discover new cultures and new food habits, and during the \u201clive cuisine\u201d sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eat Smart project aims at raising awareness about the need for an healthy food and sustainable consumption, through a (re)discovery of culinary traditions. It is coordinated by CESIE with the support of the Youth in Action programme (Action 3.2) of the European Commission. 40 young cooks or video makers from 4 different countries (China, France, Vietnam and Italy) were involved in the different steps of the project: a training course in Beijing, 6 local workshops in each of the 4 countries, the production of a documentary, a research on traditional recipes and an International Food Fair in Palermo, Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
